Rik Hagarty – Founder

Rik Hagarty founded SAWs in 2003 toward the end of his career in the transportation and logistics industry. Rik conceptualized and led the expansion of SAWs across Indiana and into other states. His experience in business development, sales and consulting has been instrumental to SAWs. Rik attended Indiana State University.

 

Tim Thurston

Tim Thurston – Executive Director

Tim brings years of experience in operational leadership, customer stewardship, and financial management. As many SAWs team members do, he wears many hats and has been actively organizing ramp builds, doing ramp builds, growing SAWs’ Corporate Team Building program, and training new project managers and customer service representatives.

Tim grew up in the Indianapolis area and has a deep passion to serve people in the community. Tim and his wife, Becky, have three grown children and are active in Franklin, Indiana. Tim is an IHSAA football referee and sits on the boards of Franklin Rotary Club and Leadership Johnson County. Tim graduated from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science / International Studies and Core in Statistics.

 

Laura Belko

Laura Belko – Program Development Manager

Laura Belko is a Crawfordsville, IN resident specializing in nonprofit marketing and fundraising. With expertise in digital marketing and donor retention, Laura has successfully enhanced brand visibility and revenue for multiple nonprofit organizations. Currently, she holds the position of Program Development Manager at Servants at Work (SAWs), where she leads initiatives in nonprofit marketing and fundraising. Laura’s educational background includes a Master of Science in Nonprofit and Association Management from the University of Maryland, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, from Rutgers University. Her expertise and dedication make her a valuable asset to the SAWs team.

 

Byron Chaplin

Byron Chaplin – Accountant

Byron earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from Westminster College in Pennsylvania. He gained valuable experience working for five years at an engineering firm, where he handled various accounting responsibilities such as general accounting, tax preparation, budgeting, planning, corporate reporting, and contract cost analysis. Additionally, he owned and managed a service bureau, offering bookkeeping, accounting, payroll, and customized data processing services to small businesses and not-for-profit organizations. Byron also provided in-house accounting and related services to multiple not-for-profit organizations. Since 2013, he has been tutoring accounting at Ivy Tech Community College. Since 2015, Byron has been serving as an Accountant for SAWs.

 

Mike Page

Mike Page – Operations Manager

Mike Page is the Operations Manager for SAWs, currently residing in Pendleton, Indiana. With a strong track record of 3 years at SAWs, he has proven himself as both a valuable team member and an effective Project Leader. Prior to joining SAWs, Mike spent 20 years at NIR Corporation, where he held roles as a Project Manager and Project Coordinator. Outside of work, Mike enjoys pursuing his hobbies of photography and offroading.
